Journal rect rect rect rect rect rect rect

At the beginning of each chapter we will have a journal entry. This is a place for you to get familiar with the chapter and express your thoughts. These guidelines and suggestions will help you to get more out of your writing.

FOR JOURNAL ENTRIES:

1 . Look at the opening images as well as other figures and tables throughout     the chapter.

2. Discuss the topics with a partner or two for a few minutes.

3. Put the date and chapter number at the beginning of each entry.

4. Collect your thoughts and begin writing. There will be some suggested     questions on the board to help you start. You will have about 10 minutes.

5. Entries should be in paragraph form, have opening and closing sentences,     and follow all the rules of grammar.

6. Volunteers will be encouraged to share their entries with the class.
